Obituary for Blanche H. Tryggestad

We are sad to announce that our beloved mother, Blanche H. Tryggestad, passed away at Mulder Health Care Facility on October 13, 2024. She was 96 years old. Blanche was born on October 11, 1928, in Hillsboro, Wis. Her parents, James and Annie Fuchs raised her on a local farm. She married the love of her life, Lavon E. Tryggestad, on May 19, 1949. Together they raised two sons, Dennis and Michael, and a daughter, Carol. As a devoted wife and mother, Blanche showered her family with unconditional love and worked hard to keep up the family home. Blanche was a woman of many talents. She liked to sew clothes for her children, gardening and canning, and being a 4H leader. She always made sure her children went to church and Sunday School. Blanche and Lavon enjoyed card playing with friends and dancing when they got the time. They also did some 5th wheel camping in their later years together. They spent many years on a small farmette in Minnesota before moving to Barre Mills, in the West Salem area.

She worked as a cook in the West Salem High School in the late 70’s and eventually she and Lavon retired and moved into West Salem. Blanche was a long time member of our Savior’s Lutheran Church in West Salem.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: sons, Dennis (Vickie Hackbarth) Tryggestad and Michael Tryggestad, and daughter, Carol (Greg) Miller; grandchildren, Brock (Michelle) Tryggestad, Tonya (Steve) Helgerson, Orion (Brenna) Miller, Chase Miller, Rochelle (Joe) Woodard; many great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pat Richards; and nieces and nephews.

Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, Lavon on May 31, 2007; her parents, James Sr., and Annie Fuchs; and brother, James Fuchs, Jr.

Our mom will be laid to rest, next to our dad, in the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum at Mormon Coulee Memorial Park Cemetery, south of La Crosse. Services will be private for immediate family only.

Our family would like to thank the staff at Mulder Health Care Facility for the kindness and care they gave to our mom during her stay with them.

Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, Jostad Chapel, West Salem, is assisting the family with arrangements.
