Obituary for Ramon Alan Stelloh
Ramon was raised on his parent’s County YY Dairy Farm, instilling lifelong values of hard work and ingenuity. An exuberant youth of the muscle car era, he liked fast cars and fittingly found his first job off the farm at a local auto body shop. With an easy-going nature and good sense of humor he was voted homecoming king by his peers. Soon after graduating from West Salem High, he enlisted in the National Guard and was put to task as a Tank Mechanic. Shortly after leaving the service he met the love of his life, Sally Andersen. Sally and Ramon shared forty- four years of loving marriage, raising three children, and enjoying four grandchildren.
Ramon valued personal freedom greatly which was evident in his love for the open road in a 44-year career as a semi-truck driver. Accompanied by a trusty thermos of coffee, Ramon drove millions of miles. He maintained and was proud of his 35-year safe driving record while working at Ace Hardware. His love of the open road was not limited to a semi; Ramon was a passionate Harley owner. Many fun and adventurous road trips were made on that Harley; something Ramon truly loved and enjoyed.
Humble, kind, soft-spoken but never boring. Ramon was the embodiment of patience; never to raise his voice or point out a flaw. He was respected by family and peers through leading by example; simple is better and everything in moderation. Ramon could fix anything and engineer solutions to any problem with on hand materials, he took satisfaction in keeping equipment running and limiting wastefulness.
At his core, Ramon was a family man, all whom he loved unconditionally. The compassion he had for his aging relatives and young grandchildren was evident. Ramon enjoyed spending quality time and giving undivided attention to people of all walks of life. Ramon with a sweet tooth himself and loved to spoil his grandchildren with his famous “secret shakes;” he was truly the best Grandfather. For his immediate family, Ramon made a point to provide his children travel experiences he missed growing up on a farm; summer vacations were cross-country adventures or trips to Mexico. Camping, National Parks, journeys to the ocean, and historical places were a given part of the Stelloh family experience. Hunting with his sons, backyard baseball games, boating on the river, time in the garage, or late nights at the kitchen table; quality time with family was well spent and will forever be cherished.
Ramon is survived by his wife, Sally; their children, Emily (Travis) Allred, Luke Stelloh and Jacob (Katie) Stelloh; grandchildren, Gavin Allred, Ava Allred, Madelyn Stelloh, and Parker Stelloh; siblings, Debra (Theodore) Lambert, Janet (Jeffrey) Kastenschmidt, Valerie (Dean) Lee, and David (Deanna) Stelloh; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Elaine (Wayne) Westrich, Bob (Marcie) Andersen, Mark (Sandy) Andersen, and Paul (Cheri) Andersen; and also, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Ramon was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Betty Stelloh; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Joyce Andersen; brother-in-law, Chris Andersen; and nephew, Joel Lambert.
