Obituary for Kathleen R. "Kathy" Anderson

With great sadness, we announce the loss of our beloved, Kathleen Ruth Anderson “Kathy”. Kathy passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at home Saturday, October 19, 2024.

Kathy was born in La Crosse, WI to Joyce Kane and LeRoy Lachman on May 23rd of 1952. She graduated from Aquinas Catholic High School in 1970. She went on to earn her associate degree at Western Wisconsin Technical College. After graduating with a degree as a Medical Assistant, she started her job at Skemp Clinic. She was a natural caregiver and dedicated 33 years in the field. She was loved by the patients she cared for and the doctors she worked for as well.

In 1975, Kathy met the love of her life, Steven Anderson “Steve” in La Crosse. Steve called it a “whirlwind romance”. They were engaged only six short months after dating and married July 17th of 1976. They went on to have two children, Amy, and Lisa, who she unconditionally loved.

Throughout her life, Kathy had a knack for seeing the beauty in everything. She had a heart of gold and always saw the best in people. She would frequently say, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.” She had an uncanny ability to meet people and befriend them. Many of whom she kept in contact with throughout her life. She was the true definition of “chatty Kathy”.

Kathy had many loves: spending time with family and friends; gardening; love for flowers (she had green thumb like no other); reading; listening to music; watching thunderstorms; going to the casino; shopping (looking for treasures for all those she knew); garage saleing (when she was able to get around better); traveling (especially with her family and in the winter months), but the greatest love of all was her grandchildren. She would always say, they are my sunshine.

Growing up, Kathy was a devout Catholic, and despite not belonging to a church at this time, she maintained a strong sense of faith and felt it wasn’t our place to ask why.

She is survived by her husband, Steve; her daughters, Amy and Lisa (Jeremy Lund); grandchildren, Murelle, Maddie, Lucy, Breah, and Jase; sister, Linda (Dave Faherty); brother, John; sister-in-law, Nancy (Keith) Schmig; many nieces and nephews; cousins; and friends.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Joyce and LeRoy Lachman; her in-laws, Betty and Roger Anderson; brother-in-law, Paul Serverson; son-in-law, Chad Kneesel; nephew, Paul Faherty; and her sister, Judy Lachman Her departure came too soon and left a deep wound felt by her entire family and countless others who loved her. The family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time.
