Obituary for Lu Etta Mae Fruechte
Born February 17,1930, in Redfield South Dakota to Gustav and Elsie (Haar) Verthein. Her family moved back to Minnesota in 1937 and settled in the Caledonia area/ Lu Etta attended grade school in the Daley School District 33. Graduated from Caledonia High School in 1947 and went on to La Crosse Vocational School to improve her secretarial skills. Lu Etta worked at the Houston County Courthouse for 30 years, her first five years in the Register of Deeds office and Social Services for 25 years working mostly with families with dependent children and the elderly. Lu Etta retired from the Courthouse in December of 1991.
Lu Etta married Chester Fruechte in 1951 where they lived on a farm near Eitzen until 1993 when they moved to Caledonia. They were blessed with three sons. Alan, Terry and Keith. Lu Etta enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, doing crossword puzzles, reading books, bowling and golf. Lu Etta also enjoyed singing in the church choir.
Lu Etta and Chester spent twenty plus years wintering in Mesa AZ with family and friends.
Lu Etta is survived by her three sons, Alan (Sue Bollech), Terry (Sue) and Keith (Lisa); five grandsons, Nick (Jackie), Josh (Sarah Papke), Ryan (Olivia), Alec and Matthew (Lizzy); three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Laney and August; her bother-in-law, Donald Warren; sister-in-law, Marian Reed; many loving nieces and nephews; and two very special friends, Judy and Joyce.
Lu Etta was preceded in death by her husband, Chester; her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elmer and Alma Fruechte; siblings and their spouses, Clarence (Doris), Norma (Leonard) Rolfs, Dorothy (Reinhard) Bunge, Kathryn (Leo) Enyart, Geneva (Dexter) Ridgley, Kermit (Augusta), Lillian (Warren) Wiedman, Gus, Jr. (Donna), Donna (Harold) Amsrud, and Janice Warren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., at St. Luke’s Church in Eitzen, Minn., on Monday, November 4, 2024. Rev. Michael McCann will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m., until the time of service, Monday, at the church.
