Obituary for Richard A. Zibrowski
Richard is survived by his loving wife Maureen, of 61 years; their 5 children, Carson (Donna) Mesa, AZ, Craig (Jane) Mankato, MN, Deanna (Scott) DeWitt, Joanne (Ron) DuCharme both of Caledonia, MN, and Richard (Diana) Houston, MN; 14 grandchildren, Angela (Ryan) Kanthack, Jennifer (Brad) Francis, Bryan DeWitt, Michael (Karissa) Zibrowski, Megan Zibrowski, Amber (Seth) Zoellner, Hannah Zibrowski, Ethan (Sophia) DuCharme, Elliott DuCharme, Mackenzie and Troy Zibrowski, and Anthony Coleman and Chris Logan; 7 great-grandchildren, Daniel, Gideon, and Malachi Zoellner, Evelyn and Zander Hoffland, Isabelle Zibrowski, and Rebecca Francis; sister, Dolores Yanzer of Holmen, WI; brother, Leland (Carol) of LaCrescent, MN; many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Edna; grandchildren, Shane and Nicole DeWitt; 6 brothers, Ronald, Wilfred, Norman, Harold, Leslie, and Henry; and one sister, Mae Odette. He was also preceded by 2 brothers-in-law, Eugene Odette and Gene Yanzer; sisters-in-law, Rose, Phyliss, Janet, and Sharon Zibrowski; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Maurice and Evelyn Petersen; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Richard was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church of Caledonia, MN. He was a member of the church choir, served on the church council, school board, and board of elders. He also served in the Army from Jan. 1960 to Jan. 1963 and was a member of the American Legion Post #191.
Richard had many jobs during his life; he worked at Trane, he was a farmer, sold Moorman Feed, was a square dance caller, and had several positions at Mississippi Welders Supply. After retirement he drove tractor for Sno Pac Foods and he became a school bus driver for Schmitz Bus Service. He enjoyed getting to know all the children that rode on his bus and also getting to drive the bus to his grandchildren’s sporting events. He enjoyed camping, spending time with family and friends, bowling, and going to the bus barn to have coffee.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 650 N. Kingston St., Caledonia. Rev. Tom Schultz will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Military honors will be rendered by the Loveless-Eikens American Legion Post 191 of Caledonia and the United States Army Funeral Honor Guard. A visitation will be from 10:00 a.m., until the time of service, Saturday, at the church.
