Obituary for Darlene Stair
She was born October 11, 1947, in Durand, Wis., to Fred and Joyce Linse. On August 19, 1972, Darlene married Delbert Stair at Mindoro Lutheran Church. Together they farmed for 52 years and owned and operated Stair Plumbing where she kept the books. On July 28, 1976, they welcomed a son, Troy.
Darlene was a teacher at Trempealeau Elementary, retiring in May 2005. She was a beloved teacher who was still in touch with many of her former students and colleagues.
Darlene loved gardening, baking, and canning; she was famous for her dill pickles, bread and butter pickles, and strawberry jam. She always shared her baked goods with her kids, grandkids, niece, Terri and provided endless treats for her grandpups. No one left her home hungry.
Darlene also enjoyed casino trips with her siblings and friends and having numbers for Packer games, bowl games, the Super Bowl, and the World Series.
Above all was her love for her family. Darlene’s grandchildren were her whole world and any friend of her grandchildren automatically became family. She will be deeply missed by her family.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Delbert; son, Troy (Stacy) Stair; grandchildren, Kyle (Naleah Nerby) Stair and Makenna Stair; grandpups, Milo, Moose, Scoot, and Cedar; siblings, Jeanette (Robert) Thompson, Kathy “Min” (Gary) Raabel, Cheri “Maggie” (Michael) Tucker, Fred Jr., “Walt” Linse, Bill “Toulie” Linse, and Lori “Annie” (Paul) Johnson; brother-in-law, Darrell Stair; special niece, Terri Camden; 10 other nieces and four nephews and their families; and her honorary grandchildren, Karlie White, Tahnee Clark, Chase Camden, Trevor Camden, Matthew Hruza, Nathan Hruza, and Savannah Kroener.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Freddie and Bernice Stair; and sister, Diane Rau.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Mindoro Lutheran Church. Pastor Emma Grinde will officiate. Burial will follow in Farmington Cemetery.
