Obituary for Albert Grabhorn
He was born June 7, 1933, in La Crosse, to Oscar and Emma (Kendhammer) Grabhorn. Albert was a veteran of the United States Army. On January 26, 1957, he married Eunice Schober. Together they enjoyed polka dancing; many times at the Concordia Ballroom in La Crosse, attending church and taking the entire family to weddings, taking car rides in the country, fishing, and taking occasional trips to Wisconsin Dells. On January 8, 2020, Eunice preceded Albert in death. He was employed for many years at Webster Lumber until his retirement. In addition, he worked with his brother, Reuben, in the cement business for many years.
Survivors include five children, Sharry (Russell) Niedfeldt of Sparta, Linda (Tim) Garavalia of Bangor, Christine (Douglas) Niedfeldt of Hixton, and Dale and Wayne Grabhorn both of Rockland; eight grandchildren, Brenna Wood (David), Mitchell Niedfeldt, Jessica (Joe) Austin, Eric Stark, Dustin Garvalia (Susan), Tyler (Sara) Garvalia, Melissa (Tom) Lawrence, and Michael Niedfeldt (Amber); great-grandchildren, Keaton Wood, Adeline Wood, Tanner Austin, Mason Austin, Isaiah (Teonna) Lawrence, Brice Lawrence, Carmen Lawrence, Vanessa Lawrence, and Gentry Niedfeldt; one great-great-grandchild, Legacy Lawrence; one brother, Reuben Grabhorn; and one sister-in-law, Mary Grabhorn.
In addition to his wife, Eunice, Albert was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Darwin; two brothers, his infant twin brother and Calvin Grabhorn; and three sisters, Mert (Butch), Millie (Ralph), and Irene (Glenn).
A Christian Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 3, 2025, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, W3565 Co Rd M, Barre Mills, WI. Rev. Andrew Schultz will officiate. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery in La Crosse with military honors to be rendered by the American Legion and the United States Army Funeral Honor Guard.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, Friday, at the church.
A night before visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Fredrickson Funeral Home, Bangor Chapel, Hwy. 162 and Hattan Street, Bangor.
