Obituary for Deloris J. Wehrs


Deloris J. Wehrs, 90, of Holmen and formerly of Barre Mills, passed away unexpectedly on March 9, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse.

She was born February 22, 1935, to Irvine and Irene (Schild) Pfaff of Mindoro. She was baptized and confirmed at Mindoro Lutheran Church. While dancing at the Avalon Ballroom in La Crosse, Deloris met Maynard Wehrs, and they were married on September 10, 1960, at Mindoro Lutheran Church.

She was employed at Trane Company for 37 years while also farming alongside Maynard on their farm in Barre Mills. After their marriage, Deloris became a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Barre Mills.

She enjoyed gardening, traveling, crossword puzzles, card club, canning, and genealogy. Deloris had a sincere love of all animals (she even kept a pet skunk) and enjoyed watching the birds at her feeders, especially blue birds. She adored her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren and loved spending time with them.

Survivors include her daughters, Deanna (Mark) Parins, Denise (John) Homstad, and Deidre Wehrs; grandchildren, Mark II (Andrea) Parins, Brad Parins, Erin (Ben) Diggs, Jay (Amber) Parins, Matthew (Kirsten) Homstad, Rachel Homstad, and Desmond Wehrs; great-grandchildren, Mark III Parins, Kayla (Nick) Stoa, Emma and Zoie Parins, Cody Parins, Carlie and Cole Parins-Renwick, Julia, McKenzie, and Brooklyn Parins, and Jonah Homstad; great-great-grandchildren, Landon Cary, Kenley and Remi Stoa, Greg Butterfield, and Levi Parins; brother-in-law, Paul Holter; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Deloris was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Rita Holter; brother, Wilfred (Pat) Pfaff; grandson, Tyler Parins; and her husband, Maynard.

A Christian Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Barre Mills. Rev. Andrew Schultz will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m., until the time of service, Tuesday, at the church.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the paramedics and the staff in the Mayo Clinic Health System Emergency Department for their help and compassionate care during such a difficult time. Your kindness is deeply appreciated and will always be remembered.
