Obituary for Roy E. Fonstad

He was born February 3, 1938, to Franklin and Olga (Lundgaard) Fonstad. On March 6, 1976, Roy married Mary (Draves) Kneifl in West Salem. He owned and operated a construction company. Roy was the accordion player in the Pla-Mor Band. He loved fishing with his wife, Mary, and being out in the fields on his farm.

Roy will be remembered for his contagious laugh and will be deeply missed by many.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews; Mary’s family; and good friend, Donnie Kneifl.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Mary; siblings, Richard (Janet) Fonstad, Alvin (Helen) Fonstad, Lois (La Vern) Johnson, and Alice (Arnold) Johnson; and other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Lewis Valley Lutheran Church, Hwy V and Hwy T, Holmen. Pastor Emma Grinde will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m., until the time of service, Thursday, at the church.

Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, Jostad Chapel, West Salem, is in charge of arrangements.
