Obituary for Luella E. Pierce

Luella E Pierce, 94, of Bangor passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Morrow Home on Wednesday, April 9,2025.

Luella was born on December 31, 1930, in Dutch Creek to Bernard and Florence Knudtson. She graduated from Bangor High School and worked at Roosevelt Company.

On October 15, 1952, she married Douglas W. Pierce, at her sister’s home in Bangor. They farmed and shared a life of 67 years together in Burns Valley.

Luella’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. Luella was a member of the Burns Valley Homemakers Club. Luella was known for her beautiful flowers, a large and robust vegetable garden where she would stock the pantry with her canned goods, baking cakes for family weddings, birthdays, and holidays, attending ceramic classes, and sewing many of the clothes she and her children would wear.

Survivors include her children, Curtis (Jann) Pierce, Linda (Steve) Shinn, Keith Pierce, Lori (Mark) Tibbits; grandchildren Andrew and Lucas Pierce; sister Florence (Ron) Munson, sisters-in-law Marge Knudtson, Nancy Knudtson and Jane Knudtson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas; siblings, Kenny (Doris) Knudtson, Alice (Myron) Pfaff, Bernard Knudtson, Harold (Mary Lou) Knudtson, Lyle (Marty) Knudtson, Donald Knudtson and Edmund Knudtson. Sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ione (Max) Hauge, Eunice (Ed) Mauszycki, Ollie (Harold) Hartman, Clyde Pierce, Cordelia (Willard) Drecktrah, Gen Vierra, Lettie (Harold) Morgan, Eugene (Lois) Pierce.

The family would like to extend its gratitude to the staff at Morrow Home for the care (and pet visits) they provided to Luella the past couple of years.

A private burial will be held at a later date.
