
Obituary for Jeffrey W. Middendorf

He was born July 9, 1950, to Junior and Carmen (Anderson) Middendorf in La Crosse, WI. He grew up on the family farm in Winnebago Valley. Jeff attended grade school at the District 615 Country School in Winnebago Valley, and then attended Caledonia High School graduating with the class of 1968. After graduation, he attended Winona State College graduating with a Bachelors Degree of Science. After graduation, Jeff joined the Army. He served as a Communications Specialist in Germany for three years. After serving his country, he started working at the Lansing Power Plant as an Assistant Operator. Jeff also farmed with his brother, Zane until the time of his passing.
Jeff had a passion for football. He played on his high school football team and the Winona State Football team for four years. He was a member of the Winona State Football W Club and the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He was very passionate about his Minnesota Vikings, although you had to cover your ears while watching a game with him. Jeff belonged to the American Legion Post 191 of Caledonia. He was fortunate to have been able to go on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C., in May of 2024. Jeff also enjoyed traveling, hunting, farming, and visiting with his friends. His biggest joy was playing with his toy, a D6 Caterpillar bulldozer.
Survivors include his brothers, Greg (Jean), Mark, and Zane, all of Caledonia, and Brian of Alamogordo, New Mexico; a sister, Janine Wallace of Golden, Colo.; nephews and nieces, Michael, Aaron (Amanda), and Luke (Amanda) Middendorf, Jessica, Chantz (Joshua), and Brandan Wallace; and great-nephews, Gunnar, Asher, and Alden Middendorf, and Ramiro Nieto.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Christy.
A Celebration of Jeff's life will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Elsie's Bar and Grill in Caledonia. Jeff will be laid to rest at the Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery in Preston, Minnesota on July 11, 2025.
