Obituary for Douglas H. "Doug" Fischer
Douglas Holland Fischer, 75, of Sparta, WI passed away at Mayo Health System in La Crosse on September 27, 2025. Doug fought multiple cancers with all his might, but a sudden unexpected turn of events ended his battle.
Doug was born on June 24, 1950, to Richard and Elsie (Holland) Fischer in Parma, OH. He married Nancy Sirota on October 21, 1972 in Naperville, IL.
Doug is survived by his wife, Nancy Fischer; his daughters, Jenna (Matt) Hickerson and Ashlie Dotson; his step-daughter, Tammy (James) Specht; grandchildren, Christopher (Megan) and Jordyn Specht, Adrian and Preston Hickerson, and Zoe and Zada Dotson; sisters, Janet Wurster and Beverly Fischer. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Elsie Fischer.
Doug worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad from the age of 19 until he retired at 60 years old.
Doug had a passion for music, working on cars, watching hockey – rooting for the Blackhawks, watching car racing, donating blood, helping family and friends, and even grocery shopping.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m., until 2:00 p.m., on November 22, 2025, at Fredrickson Funeral Home, Jostad Chapel, 121 N. Youlon St., West Salem, WI 54669.
In lieu of gifts or flowers to the family, donations or other gestures of support to the Coulee Region Humane Society, the American Red Crosse, or to any cause helping people/animals which you care about would all be most welcomed and appreciated.
