Obituary for Elva Jane Storandt
Elva Jane Storandt, 98, of Sparta and formerly of Burr Oak, passed away January 24, 2026, at the Morrow Home in Sparta.
She was born to Clarence and Lilah (Fischer) Schleifer on August 6, 1927, in Sparta. Elva was baptized and confirmed at the Melrose Ev. Lutheran Church by Reverend M.A. Zimmerman. On September 16, 1946, Elva married Lester Storandt at Christ Ev. Lutheran Church in Burr Oak with Reverend M.A. Zimmerman as the presiding minister.
Survivors include her son, Gerald “Jerry” (Linda) Storandt; daughters, Kay Campbell Legreid (Sheldon) and Betty (Jeff) Wegner; grandchildren, Nicole (Erik) Nelson, Jennifer (Monty) Lockington, Kari (Jake) Campbell Van Vleet, Sarah (Kurt) Loehr, Jenna (Nick) Schmitz, and Tom (Annaliese) Wegner; great-grandchildren, Wesley Storandt, Shelby (Trent) Hale, Adella and Ainsley Loehr, and Lane and Sage Wegner; step-great-granddaughter, Brooke Van Vleet; and cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Elva was preceded in death by her husband, Lester, on December 15, 1999; her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alex and Julia Storandt; sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Herbert Craig; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ray and Doris Vick; son-in-law, Gerald Campbell; daughter-in-law, Shirley Storandt; nieces, Linda Benchina and Char Vick; and grandson, Michael Storandt.
A Christian Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2026, at Christ Ev. Lutheran Church - Burr Oak, rural Mindoro. Rev. Christopher Johns will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 12 noon until the time of service, Friday, at the church.
