Obituary for Joan Breeser
Joan Catherine (Burroughs) Breeser passed into eternal peace on April 22, 2026. Joan was born September 18,1944, to Jesse and Mabel (Henry) Burroughs in Mayville Township.
Joan graduated from Caledonia Public High School. She met her best friend and soulmate, Lee Breeser, and they married on May 5, 1963. For 62 years they were a pair of love birds who were strongly devoted to each other.
Joan was employed at Rice Pharmacy, Caledonia High School library, Houston County Group Homes, Von Arx Law Office, Mell Chiropractic, Tweeten Care Center kitchen, Houston County Public Health, St. Luke’s Church, and also served as Eitzen's city treasurer. She also did side jobs for people who needed her to paint or paper their homes. She made wedding cakes, and was a seamstress for hire. Her skills and talents were unlimited. She loved to make quilts, crochet, embroider, and garden. She was a beloved mom, grandma, and great-grandma who lovingly earned the title of “Grandma Eitzen” in 2002.
Joan is survived by her children, Tony (Beth) Breeser, Nancy (Allan) Cordes, and Russ (Vicki) Breeser; grandchildren, Brandon (Krissy) Cordes, William (Jordan) Cordes, Elliot (Michelle) Breeser, Amy (Sam) Kiefer, and Kaydi Breeser; great-grandchildren, Rhett Breeser, Dalton Breeser, and Ladon Kiefer; sisters, Alice Schleich, Donna Schlinsog, and Jeannie (Larry) Kruse; sisters-in-law, Erma Burroughs, Elaine Burroughs, and Janice Burroughs.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Lee; parents, Jesse and Mabel Burroughs; in-laws, John and Laura Breeser; sisters, Lucille (Bob) Colsch and Lois (Lyle) Nelson; brothers, Bob Burroughs, Milton Burroughs, Donnie (Bonnie) Burroughs, and Tim Burroughs; sisters-in-law, Ruth Breeser and Luella Meyer; brothers-in-law, Jack Schleich and Al Schlinsog.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at St. Luke’s Church in Eitzen, MN. Pastor Michael McCann will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
