Obituary for Phyllis A. Hoeth

Phyllis Ann Hoeth, 89, passed away on May 2, 2026, at the Lakeview Healthcare Center in West Salem, WI.

Phyllis was born to Ann (Richey) and Leo Marchlewski in Alpena, Michigan on May 23, 1936. She was the beloved wife of Merle Hoeth.

Phyllis was a warm-hearted and gregarious person who came to La Crosse in 1962, where she worked at Gateway Transportation. She was a long-time member of the Eagles and Moose Lodges and loved meeting there with her many friends. Phyllis traveled the world with husband, Merle, and dear friends, Rusti and Merlin Hoeth. Her favorite destination was New York City, as she loved to see the shows on Broadway.

Phyllis volunteered for many years at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe and worked at the Marcus Cinema until she was 84. Because she loved musicals, her favorite movie was Mama Mia.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Merle.

She is survived by children, Richard (Shann) Kildow and Sheri (Jeff) Laufle; step-children, Tim Hoeth, and Mike (Kari) Hoeth, Deborah Hilberer, and Pamela Kelly. Phyllis was very fond of, and is also survived by, grandchildren, Josh (Shobi), Jessica (Dan), Carrie, Christine (Jason), Cory (Meredith), Amanda (Jason), Brianna, Brady, and Bailey; and great-grandchildren, Cadence, Remi, Daniel, Chase, Nicholas, Ethan, Lana, Wren, Hattie, and River.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., on May 19, 2026, at The Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman, 530 Main St., La Crosse. A visitation will be held at the Cathedral from 9:00 a.m., until the time of Mass.
