Obituary for Virginia Stacey

Virginia Jane Stacey's beautiful soul found eternal peace on Saturday, May 23, 2026. At the age of 74, she passed away peacefully at Gundersen Hospital.

Virginia was born on April 14, 1953, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. On July 21, 1975, she married the love of her life, James Michael Stacey. Together they shared 36 years of marriage before his passing. Their life together began on a small farm on North Ridge, where they raised goats and enjoyed a shared love of nature. They built their forever home along Highway 35, where they spent many happy years together watching the Mississippi River and amazing sunsets (which they photographed/archived often).

Virginia treasured the river views and never tired of the sunsets that painted the sky each evening. She loved a good "gully gusher" of rain, often heading out afterward for a rock hunt. As an avid birdwatcher, she found joy in observing the birds that traveled along the Mississippi flyway.

Virginia will be remembered by her son, Dan (Heather) Stacey; granddaughter, Jourdan (Matt Schlobohm) Stacey; great-granddaughter, Madi; brothers, Russell (Victoria) June and Victor (Joan) June; as well as many treasured nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mike Stacey; her parents, Margaret (Bill) Starch and H. June.

A private burial service will be held on June 11, 2026. A celebration of Virginia's life will be held at a later date.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Gundersen Hospital for the care and kindness they provided during this difficult time.

Virginia's life was marked by a deep appreciation for nature and a quiet joy found in life's simple pleasures. Her memory will live on in the sunsets over the river, migrating birds overhead and treasured moments shared with those who loved her. Peace out
