Obituary for Daniel P. Cavadini

He was born January 17, 1938, in La Crosse, to Adrian “Whitey” and Hilda (Mathison) Cavadini. Dan grew up on Middle Ridge, attending first through fourth grade at the “little school,” and fifth through eighth grade at the “big school.” He attended Cashton High School for three years before transferring to Bangor High School, where he served as class president and graduated with the Class of 1955.

Dan was a veteran of the United States Navy having served from 1956, until being honorably discharged in 1960.

He then attended UW-La Crosse before beginning his career as an engineer for the telephone company. He was first employed at AT&T in Milwaukee, Madison, and Eau Claire and later for Bell Telephone in La Crosse and Appleton. After his retirement he moved back to La Crosse to be closer to friends and family.

Survivors include his sister, Sharon Kirchner; brothers-in-law, Tim Anderson and Tom Hundt; many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Whitey and Hilda Cavadini; sisters, Vicki Anderson and Gloria Hundt; and niece, Caryn (Hundt) Strand.

A prayer service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 29, 2026, at Fredrickson Funeral Home, 4239 Mormon Coulee Rd., La Crosse. Entombment with military honors will be held at the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Woodlawn Cemetery in La Crosse.

Friends and family may gather for a visitation from 12 noon until the time of service, Monday, at the funeral home.
