Obituary for Russell “Russ” Niedfeldt


Russell “Russ” James Niedfeldt of Sparta, WI passed away on September 6, 2026 surrounded by his wife and children.

Born April 7, 1958, in Sparta, WI to Richard and Marleah Niedfeldt, he grew up on the family farm in Bangor WI. He worked hard on the family farm all through out school with his parents and siblings. He attended school in Bangor and graduated from Bangor High School in 1976.

After graduating he met the love of his life Sharry Grabhorn and a year later they married on July 22, 1978. Russ and Sharry had 2 amazing children, Brenna and Mitchell. Russ’ wife, children and grandchildren were his everything.

After working on the family farm Russ started working at Webster in Bangor in 1978. Russ was a very dedicated worker and put his all into everything he did. In 2005 Webster was purchased by Stella Jones and Russ was currently planning his retirement from there.

Russ was big into hunting and target shooting. Russ and Sharry loved to go for a beautiful country ride on the Harley and preferred to spend their weekends camping and grilling out.

He is survived by his wife Sharry; his daughter Brenna (David Mason) Wood; his son Mitchell Niedfeldt; two grandchildren Keaton and Adalynn Wood; 2 bonus grandchildren Austin and Logan Mason; his brothers Richard Niedfeldt, Howard Niedfeldt, and Doug (Chris) Niedfeldt, and his sisters Mavis (Sid) Slominski, and Lisa (Larry) Peters; his Aunt Jeanine Nauman, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Marleah Niedfeldt; mother and father-in-law Albert and Eunice Grabhorn; his sister Lori Austin; brother-in-law John Austin; his nephew Andrew Niedfeldt; brother-in-law Brian Peters along with aunts and uncles.

Please join us to honor Russ on September 20, 2026 at Fredrickson Funeral Home 102 Hattan Street, Bangor WI. There will be a visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a memorial service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
