Obituary for Nancy Jo Smith

Nancy Jo Smith - 11/16/1942-10/10/2026

Nancy Jo Smith, age 83, passed away on October 10, 2026, at the Onalaska Care Center.

Born in Marshfield, Wisconsin, to Kathryn (Evenson) and Joseph Kuzenski, Nancy grew up in Stetsonville, Wisconsin. She later met David Smith, and the two married and welcomed two children, Susan and Steven.

With determination and devotion to her family, Nancy attended technical school during the day while working nights. She worked hard to better herself and to give Susan and Steven the best life she could. Drum and bugle corps were also a big part of the family’s life and created many lasting memories.

Nancy held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, Rachel, Susan’s daughter, and Collin, the son of Steven and Tamera. Both Rachel and Collin were fortunate to live with Nancy at different times over the course of her life, sharing a closeness they would always treasure.

Nancy became a great-grandmother to Rachel’s sons, Anthony in 2007 and Liam in 2012. She adored those babies and treasured the joy they brought to her life. In 2024, Nancy welcomed another granddaughter, Abi, when Abi and Collin were married on October 5, 2024.

Nancy loved spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed sewing, shopping, and making crafts, which she sold as a vendor at many craft shows throughout the Twin Cities area of Minnesota.

Nancy did many things throughout her life and wore many hats, but her family will remember her most for the deep and enduring love she had for her family and friends. Her determination, creativity, and devotion will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Susan K. Smith; daughter-in-law, Tamera Smith; grandchildren, Rachel Jester (married to Christopher Jester) and Collin Smith (married to Abi Smith); and great-grandsons, Anthony and Liam, sons of Rachel.
