Condolences for Michael J. "Mike" Spah
Mike played bingo with our mom (grandma) for many years until her passing. He always watched out for her and got her to bingo. They knew all the places to go..La Crescent, The Moose... He was always lucky with the pull tabs and bingo. Our condolences to the family.

Mike and I grew up in what was then known as the "Hood Park" neighborhood. We were classmates at Hamilton Grade School and Central. We were not close friends, but he was always a friendly face and a strong, quiet presence during all those years of growing up. This news of his passing hurts. In the last few months we have lost three Hamilton schoolmates who were together K through 6th Grade -- Mike, Sandy Pinker, who lived in a house across Fourth Street from my family, and Butch French, my best friend who lived across the alley. What wonderful memories. It was a tough working class neighborhood, but it was filled with good and decent people who gave the children a strong foundation to move on to good lives. It sounds like Mike, whom I lost contact with many years ago, is testament to that. My condolences to his family.

I sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. I knew him from high school although he graduated before me. He was a nice guy.

We send our deepest sympathy to the Lyga family. We have fond memories of times spent together on the river and at the cabin with you and the Needles. Also, the New Year’s Day bonfires and weenie roasts in the woods at your land. Only good happy memories when we think of the Lygas. Mike was a great guy. Sincerely, the Hansens
