Obituary for Leona M. Friske

Leona M. Friske, 91, of West Salem, passed away Friday, January 1. 2021 at Bethany St. Joseph Healthcare Center, La Crosse. She was born on August 9, 1929 in Richland Center to Albert and Elizabeth (Ecrement) Noel. Leona was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Church in Reedsburg, WI. On August 13, 1955 she married Clarence Friske, son of Vilas and Esther (Bucholz) Friske. Together they moved to West Salem in 1969. She joined Our Savior Lutheran Church in 1985 and was an active member serving on various committees including Vacation Bible School, Funeral luncheons and the Alter Guild for 21 years. Leona worked at NCR before retiring from Northern Engraving after nearly 20 years of employment. She enjoyed collecting beautiful dolls and lovely ceramic and glass figurines of all varieties. Leona was warm and loving and enjoyed sharing an upbeat smile with all she met. On January 13, 1985 Clarence preceded her in death. Survivors include her two sisters; Lorraine Stricker and Blanche Herritz, a special niece Debbie Odegaarden, many other nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by four brothers Willard "Bill", Fred, Clarence and Virgil Noel, two sisters; Irene Fisher and Elizabeth Van Wormer, three brother-in-laws; Francis Fisher, Eric Stricher and Milton Herritz. Graveside funeral services will be Thursday, January 7, 2021 at St. Matthew Lutheran Cemetery-South Ridge, Ontario, WI. Pastor Jean Schmidt will officiate. Burial will follow services. Visitation will be 10:30am-12:00pm Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Jostad Chapel, 121 N. Youlon St., West Salem. Compliance with CDC guidelines with regards to masks and physical distancing will be observed. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory is assisting her family in their time of need.
