Obituary for Cassandra Faith "Cassie" Strand
Cassandra Faith “Cassie†Strand, 28, of Onalaska, passed away peacefully at her home after courageously battling a lifetime of medical struggles.
She was born February 13, 1993, in La Crosse to Bryan Strand and Karen (Peterson) Muller. From the start of her life Cassie showed the world she was a fighter once having a doctor say, "she is tough as nails." Her courage was as strong as her will to talk to everyone she met and introduce herself, ask the person's name and make at least one compliment to the person.
Cassie was the 2004 Oktoberfest Special Fester and a 2012 graduate of Holmen High School. Though Cassie's health issues prevented her from traveling too far from home, she fell in love with the cities of New Orleans and New York via her love of jazz and Broadway musicals. She would also tell everyone she was a "Disney nerd" and could recite movie lines and sing all the songs from her favorites. Her love of crafts was well known and evidenced in her planning of her project and eventual decorated funko pops (her special creations modeled after her Disney favorites).
Survivors include her mom, Karen (Troy) Muller; dad, Bryan Strand (Debbie Mosling); grandma, Judy (Lyle) Foltz; brother, Ben Strand (Jordan Wegner); sister, Shayna Bryn (Max) Campbell; one niece, Lillian Campbell; one nephew, Thomas Campbell; uncle, Alan Peterson; her 'late night texting buddy' and aunt, Jessi (Neil) Deplazes; special aunt, Roxi (“Grandpa†Jeff) Nehring; aunts, Jackie Bronkie, Suzanne Strand, and Nita Wagner; uncle, Rod (Mary Ann) Strand; and many loving cousins.
Cassie was preceded in death by her grandpa, Michael Peterson and grandparents, Donald and Daphne Strand.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, 4239 Mormon Coulee Rd., La Crosse. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Holmen High School Special Education Department or the Mayo Clinic Health System, NICU, in La Crosse.
