Obituary for Myron O. Thompson
Myron Oluf Thompson, known around town in the late 70’s as “Bozoâ€, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Rockland on June 24, 2021 at the age of 61. Born on the North Side of La Crosse on March 21st, 1960, the third child of Vernon Thompson (d 1987) and Eva Farris (Gash). He is survived by his mother Eva, his son Dr. Shaun Thompson (Karrie), his son Ian Thompson (Kalee), his daughter Nicole Thompson, 3 grandsons, and 3 granddaughters. His children and grandchildren reside in Omaha, NE. He is also survived by his sister Frances Amundson (Thompson), brother Merlin Thompson (Marykaye), and sister Kimberly Thompson.
Myron had a bold and strong personality from an early age, with his 4th grade teacher writing on his report card that he “hasn’t learned that it is necessary to be quiet in the classroom. I guess he just enjoys talking†and his 5th grade teacher noting that “he finds it so difficult to accept anyone else’s advice or suggestionsâ€. These traits endeared him to so many and most assuredly live on through his children, as does his dedication to family, his generosity, and love for the Green Bay Packers.
Myron was passionate about many things and loved to spend time outside and being with his children and grandchildren as much as possible. He loved taking his kids on trips to the lake, canoeing the Au Train River in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, skiing every night there was snow on the ground, and watching the Northern Lights around a backyard campfire. If it couldn’t be done outside, you could always count on him for a game of pitch rife with color commentary.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 23, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1010 Sill St., La Crosse. A visitation will be from 10:00 a.m., until the time of service. Online condolences may be offered at www.jandtfredrickson.com
