Obituary for Clifford J. Ponczoch

Clifford Joseph Ponczoch, age 81, of New Albin passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon. Clifford was born on June 19, 1940, to Charles and Rose (Schueller) Ponczoch of Marshfield, WI. He was number 10 of 11 children. On December 6, 1966, Clifford married the love of his life, Gladys Kay Schoonover. They were together until Gladys lost her fight with cancer on June 28, 2010. Clifford and Gladys retired and moved to New Albin in 2005. Cliff was well loved in his community. He took time to know his neighbors and be an encourager to others. When the weather permitted, you could always find him out front in his chair ready to share stories. He loved his family and his grandkids. He was a great craftsman. He built furniture, walking sticks, leather work and beadwork. He served in the US Navy. On August 25, 2021, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Clifford was survived by his brother, Charles Jr. (Virginia) Ponczoch; his son, Todd (Lisa) Ponczoch; grandsons, Jacob (Heather), Joshua (Joy), Levi (Emily), and Caleb (Katelyn) Ponczoch; great-grandchildren, Josiah, Abigail, Hezekiah, Olin, Addison, Zachariah, Stella, Elias, Theodore and Freya Ponczoch; and many nieces and nephews. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Rose Ponczoch; siblings, Joan Lau, Lucille Brown, Sylvia Ponczoch, Ruth Lund, Mary Ann Kelnhofer, Ethel Ellis, Baby Ponczoch, James Ponczoch, and Russell Ponczoch. In accordance with his wishes, no funeral services will be held.
