Obituary for Frank Junior Ranzenberger

Lutheran Church, Eitzen.************* Frank Junior Ranzenberger, 88, of Caledonia, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. He was born on the family farm in Waterloo Township, Allamakee County, Iowa, on April 22, 1933, to Frank and Caroline (Jahn) Ranzenberger. Frank was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Eitzen on May 14, 1933. He attended Dorchester Grade School in Dorchester, Iowa until the 8th grade. He was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church on June 20, 1948. Frank helped with running the family farm with his two brothers, Elvin and Lowell. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1956, had basic training at Fort Chaffee in Arkansas, and was sent overseas to Bousack, France. In May of 1958 Frank was honorably discharged. He did custom farming from 1950 until 1984. On October 25, 1975, Frank married Helen Bennett at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in La Crosse. He was part owner with his two brothers, Elvin and Lowell, at Iowa River Feeds in Allamakee County, Iowa from 1982 until his retirement in 1994. In 2001, which he always called his hobby job, he worked at Best Way Productions in Houston, Minn., from 2001 until 2021. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Helen; three children, Catherine (Raymond) Henkel, Carlene Hotz, and Hollie (Tim) Holter; two step-grandchildren, Victoriarose and Ariel; eight grandchildren, Sara, Hunter, Mason, Logan, Matthew, Michael, Madelyn, and Maddox; two great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Ameliahna; five step-great-grandchildren, Chase, Bradlee, Azura, Josiah, and Zavion; one sister, Hazel Kneis; one brother, Burdell Ranzenberger; one sister-in-law, Janice Ranzenberger; in-laws, Dennis and Janice Bennett, Dorothy Bennett, Beth Slater, Donald and Garrene Peaslee, Mary Bennett, Arthur Bennett, Ralph and Mary Bennett, Alfred and Linda Bennett, Kenneth Bennett, Sandra and Duane Heller, and Christopher Hotz; and many nieces and nephews too many to mention. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leonhart and Emma Ranzenberger and Charles and Mary Bennett; his parents, Frank and Caroline Ranzenberger and John and Frances Bennett, Sr.; brothers, Elvin (Florence) Ranzenberger, Lowell Ranzenberger and Gerhard Ranzenberger; sisters, Shirley (Paul) Tewes, Lorrie Ranzenberger, and Bernice (William) Glasrud; brothers-in-law, Charles Kneis, Warren Bennett, John Bennett, Jr., David Bennett, Peter Bennett, and Russell Bennett; and two sisters-in-law, Sally Bennett and Susan Ranzenberger. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Eitzen. Rev. Todd Krueger will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, and from 10:00 a.m., until the time of service, Saturday, both at the church. Pallbearers will be Frank’s grandchildren, Victoriarose Henkel, Sara Henkel, Hunter Henkel, Ariel Holter, Mason Yehle, and Logan Yehle.
