Obituary for Marian J. (May) Yellick

Marian J. (May) Yellick, born in La Crosse, WI on June 9, 1925, to Louis E. and Clara J. (Swensen) May, passed away the morning of December 29, 2021. Marian lived in La Crosse until 1941 when she moved to Milwaukee and attended North Division High School. She graduated summa cum laude in 1943. Following graduation she worked for Frank's Specialty Company and spent summers in La Crosse. On August 24, 1946 she married Karl T. “Ted” Yellick, the son of her next door neighbor landlord. Marian and Ted moved to La Crosse in 1950 and then moved to West Salem in 1954, where they raised their family of three children. Marian worked for Pischke Motors in West Salem as a bookkeeper until 1967, at which time she went to work for Lakeview Health Center. She retired from Lakeview Health Center in 1987 and she and Ted spent the next 19 years living in Arizona for 9 months a year. They returned to West Salem full-time in 2006 due to Ted's deteriorating health and to be closer to family. Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Ted, in 2013, her parents, Ted's parents Karl A. and Clara Yellick, her siblings Donald, Florence, and Joyce, brother-in-laws Dean (Joyce) Johnson, Stanley (Florence) Lovold, Marvin (Lois) Erdmann, Dr Clyde Yellick, and sister-in-laws Dianne (Donald) May and Lois (Marvin) Erdmann. She is survived by her children Douglas (Mary) Yellick, David (Stacy) Yellick, Debra Yellick Manly, grand children Sara (Tony) Steiger, Christopher (Anne) Yellick, Jason (Emily) Yellick, great grand-children Rhianna, Jacqueline, Nathaniel, Clara, Teddy, and Everly, sister-in-law Ellie (Clyde) Yellick, brother and sister-in-law Ralph and Carol Yellick, as well as special nieces and nephews locally, throughout the midwest and spread across the country from coast to coast. The family would like to express their appreciation to all of her friends, the staff of Salem Terrace, the compassionate care given in her final days by Mulder Health Care and Gundersen Hospice, and her physician Dr Tiffany Mariner. Memorials may be directed to Christ Ev. Lutheran Church, West Salem, Gundersen Hospice, or a charity of your choice. A private family gathering and burial will take place at Neshonoc Cemetery in the spring of 2022.
