Obituary for Sylvia V. Berg
Sylvia V. Berg, of Bangor, 101, passed away March 9, 2022, at Mulder Health Care Facility in West Salem, where she had been a resident for the last 1 ½ years.
She was born February 19, 1921, in Bangor, to Oscar and Mary Johnson. On June 25, 1944, Sylvia married Ernest Berg at Bethel Lutheran Church in La Crosse. She lived life as though it was forever! She grew up farming; as the oldest child, she became not only a sister, but, “the boss.†Sylvia farmed and went to school until she met and married Ernest Berg; he was in the military. Together they had two boys and lived just outside of Bangor. After Ernest passed, in time, she moved to West Salem. Sylvia finished her life at Mulder Health Care Facility. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, and chrotcheing, and spending time with family. Sylvia will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her son, Eldon (Doreen “Tinyâ€) Berg of Cashton; grandchildren, Carl (Heather) Berg, Ryan Berg, and Lynn Berg; great-grandchildren, Ashley (Mark Bird), Cameron (Miranda Schwendner), Adalyn Berg, and Sierra and Clara Peterson and Adrian and Lucas Flock; great-great-grandchildren, Kylian and Rhemi; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
In addition to her husband, Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Roger Berg; and siblings, Virgil Johnson, Robert Johnson, Phylis Saley, and Catherine Steiger.
A memorial service will be at 12 noon, Friday, March 18, 2022, at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Hwy 162 and Hattan St., Bangor. Pastor Scott Skogen will officiate. Private burial will be in Burns Cemetery. A visitation will be from 11:00 a.m., until the time of service, Friday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
