Obituary for Paul Achterkirch

Paul Achterkirch, 62, of Sparta, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. Paul was born January 6, 1960, to John and Ethel (Loging) Achterkirch. Paul was united in marriage on May 12, 1984, to Sherri (Hicks) who was the love of his life. Paul loved NASCAR racing and worked at the local racetrack for years. Paul loved his family and repeatedly said how proud he has of them. They were his caregivers during the many years he struggled with failing health. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Sherri, two children, James and Crystal; sisters, Lill Twining and Karen (Kenn) Dahl; his sister-in-law, Chris Nebauer; and his beloved pets, Little Bit and Icky (Ichabod). He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John; nephew, Benjamin; and brother-in-law, James Twining. A memorial will be held at 11 am on Friday August 12, 2022, at Hylandale SDA Church, N3200 Cty Rd J, Rockland Wisconsin. Visitation will be held from 10 am until time of service. Burial will be in Christ Ev. Lutheran cemetery, West Salem, following the service.
