Obituary for Edith Jean Van Riper

On August 6, 2022, our cherished Mom, Granny, Great-Granny Jean, age 78, passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side. Jean was born July 1, 1944, in Grove City, Pennsylvania to Clair C. Jamison and Roberta J. Shipton. She is survived by her children Russell (Mona) of Holmen, Dorothy of Rockland, Deb (John) Storandt of Mindoro, Rich (Chris) of Wheeler, Corrina of Wheeler, twelve grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Jean is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her special dog Pierre. She was preceded in death by her long-time companion Harold Johnson. Jean was a member of the Lewis Valley Lutheran Church, Holmen, WI. Until her passing, she worked for the Town of Farmington and was the Fire Marshal for many years. Through the years, she owned and operated several taverns in the area. Jean also owned and operated an adult family home for 18 years until her passing. Jean enjoyed rummage saleing (a lot!), crafting, making memory books, decorating, word searches, computer games, and her soaps. She watched for cardinals, thinking of people who passed away who might be visiting us. She was always active, busy doing something with or for someone. Per Jean’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held at a later date.
