She graduated from Fennimore High School in 1962. She married David Taylor on September 22nd,1962, celebrated nearly 60 years of marriage and made West Salem, WI their home for almost all those years. They had two sons Alan and Jeff Taylor.
Delores was a hard worker and was employed at a variety of jobs including the La Crosse Rubber Mills, Northern Engraving and Century Foods.
Delores loved entertaining and being the hostess. She was most happy when surrounded by family and friends, visiting, playing games and most of all sharing the wonderful food she prepared. The coffee pot was always on for guests and nobody ever left her home hungry. She loved to decorate and host holiday gatherings, often inviting friends that became like family. She never turned anyone away and opened her home to many family members and friends in their time of need.
Delores was a true animal lover, especially horses, and frequently took long drives with her husband to see different animals in the pastures or out in nature. Her love for animals was for all creatures including several dogs, cats, and fish they had as pets, birds and rabbits she fed in the yard and even a squirrel she once tried to rescue off the road. Other interests included square dancing, volunteering at her church, singing in the choir, attending activities of her grandchildren when they were younger and gardening. She especially loved singing, and even in the late stages of Alzheimer’s when conversation was difficult, she remembered and sang her favorite gospel hymns and country music by Johnny Cash, Elvis and Alan Jackson.
Delores had a variety of nicknames including Windy (she really loved to talk!), Lori, Sammigetch, Dee, and Gorgeous 3 (along with her sisters Gorgeous 1 and 2)
