Obituary for Evelyn Anderson
Evelyn was born on March 20, 1944, to Maxwell and Leona (Shilling) Berg. She was raised in West Salem where Evelyn attended Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She graduated from West Salem High School in 1962. On July 20, 1963 she married Verlyn Anderson at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. They began raising their family in Cataract, Wisconsin and soon moved to a farm in Mindoro and many years later moved to Sparta. After a divorce Evelyn returned to her hometown of West Salem.
Evelyn enjoyed baking and making treats for her family. She was known for her blackberry jam, Christmas cookies, rosettes, sandbakkels, cathedral bars and the world's best lefse. She would often spend the entire day making these treats with her friend Janice Phillips.
Evelyn is survived by her five children, Sherry (Chris) Hardie, Sandy Novak, Scott Anderson, Shane Anderson and Stacy Blackert, her grandchildren, Jessica (Josh Benrud), Ross (Lucy) Hardie; April (Thad Meyers), Kelsey (fiancé Jake Arttus), Taylor, Jared and Sarah Novak; Jackie (Seth Scholl), Jeremiah, Justin (Annie) Anderson and Jenah Love; Jillisa, Kimberly (fiancé Ben Windsor) and Wyatt (Monica) Anderson; and Kaylee Blackert along with several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Wayne Berg; sister-in-law, Joyce Anderson and her brother-in-law, Roger “Curly†Clements, daughter-in-law Cheryl Anderson along with her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maxwell and Leona (Shilling) Berg, her sister Joan Pfaff, her brother Roger Berg, former husband Verlyn Anderson, brother-in-law Verdell Anderson, and sister-in-law Vernita Clements.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at 11 am at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in West Salem, Wisconsin, with visitation beginning at 10 am until the time of service.
Evelyn’s family would like to thank the staff of Marinuka Manor for the wonderful care they provided for the last years of her life.
