Obituary for Robert J. Olson
He was born March 23, 1946, to Laverne and Vicki (Stanek) Olson. Robert graduated from West Salem High School in 1964 and then attended Western Technical College in La Crosse for Tool and Die training. With this training, he worked in the Tool Room at Trane Company for 38 years before retiring in 2012.
Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman, he loved spending time outdoors and at the family cabin in Hayward, it was his favorite place to be. He was additionally a great teacher and enjoyed teaching Hunter’s Safety to the local children. Robert was also very proud to have reached the title of Eagle Scout while in high school.
Survivors include Robert’s wife, Linda; mother-in-law, Eileen Madson; sisters-in-law, Pat (Steve) Warner and Lynda Kotte; nephews, Cass (Laura) Madson and their sons Henry and Theodore, Quinn (Jenni) Madson and their children Scarlett, Solomon, and Madelan; niece, Cathy (Eric) Kubendall and their son Hudson; cousins, Wayne (Linda) Stanek and their family, Glen (Cathy) Stanek and their family, Mike (Jody) Olson, Tim (Marty) Olson, and Mary Olson; and special “phone a friend,†Stephanie Cavaletto.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Milo Madson; and brother-in-law, Edward Madson.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in West Salem. Pastors Jonathan and Jean Schmidt will officiate. Burial will follow in Neshonoc Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m., until the time of service, Saturday, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred, and may be given to West Salem Rod and Gun Club or Coulee Region Boy Scouts.
