Obituary for Karen L. Rhyme
She was born June 23, 1957, in La Crosse to Leo and Adah (Freng) Schaller. Karen was a 1975 graduate of Bangor High School and later attended college in La Crosse. She worked at St. Francis Hospital as a medical transcriptionist. On May 29, 1982, Karen married Dan Rhyme at Bells Coulee Lutheran Church and they shared 33 years of loving marriage before he preceded her in death in October of 2015.
Karen also worked as a CNA at Mulder Health Care in West Salem and later, as a building manager at Caring Hearts in Bangor.
She was a life member of Bells Coulee Lutheran Church where she nurtured her strong faith by serving on the church council and playing piano and organ for many years. Karen had a love of music and enjoyed teaching her grandkids and other children in the community piano lessons. She enjoyed reading, singing in the Easter Cantata with her sister, vacationing in Bloomer, and coordinating and acting in many Spanferkel plays. Family was most important to Karen. She was always helping out at softball and baseball games for her kids, acting as girl scout troop leader, and playing cards and board games with the grandkids and attending their sporting events. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
Survivors include her children, Travis Rhyme, Tiffany (Austin) Arentz, and Trent (Laura) Rhyme; grandchildren, Tessa Rhyme, Adeline and Amberlee Arentz, and Lane, Alainah, and Adisyn Rhyme; siblings, Alan Schaller, Dennis (Virginia) Schaller, Duane (Dawn) Schaller, Forrest “Scott†(Helen) Schaller, and Joann (Scott) Schilling; mother-in-law, Marcella Rhyme; sisters-in-law, Cheryl Miller, Caryl (Gene) Cottrell, and Gena Schaller; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to her husband, Dan, Karen was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law, Harold Rhyme; brothers, Ron (Barb) Schaller and Leo “Bud†Schaller; and brother-in-law, Herman “Hermie†Miller.
Memorial services will be at 12 noon, on Friday, November 4, 2022, at Bells Coulee Lutheran Church, N7289 Cty Hwy E., Bangor. Pastor Sara Hallberg will officiate. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m., until the time of service, Friday, at the church. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
