Obituary for Alice M. Sprain
Born on March 3, 1922 in West Salem Wisconsin to William and Ella Seeger Larsen. She married Leonard Sprain October 23,1945.
Alice was a member of the West Salem Presbyterian Church all her life. She taught Sunday school for many years, belonged to the Presbyterian women and served on many committees throughout the years.
She was employed as a private secretary at the Bump Pump Company of La Crosse during World War II she later worked in the office of Micro Card and NCR of West Salem and later the West Salem Schools.
Alice was a busy volunteer for many years starting with being a den mother in Cub Scouting. She volunteered many hours with the Bloodmobile, Lutheran Hospital, and the West Salem historical society and in the library of the West Salem Elementary School. She was active in the community bridge marathons originally raising money for the swimming pool, then the Historical Society. Alice played and hosted many bridge clubs and enjoyed playing golf through her 80s.
Alice, Leonard and their sons went on a lot of camping trips and traveled to every state in the United States except Alaska and Hawaii. In 1978 they bought a log cabin near Millston, Wisconsin and spent much time there entertaining friends, family and grandchildren. Camp Salem is known by many.
Alice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother enjoying spending time with family. She and Leonard loved following their grandchildren to many school activities and sporting events.
Alice is survived by her son Randy Sprain of West Salem, grandchildren Angela (Dan) Korson of West Salem, Timothy (Danielle) Sprain of La Crosse, Melissa (Chris) Norman of West Salem and Ben (Sarah) Sprain-Sullivan of West Salem and 12 great-grandchildren: Magdalene and Gabrielle Strittmater, Olivia Korson and Marissa Korson, Abie, Liberty and Adelade Sprain, Genevieve and Augustine Norman, Braxton, Jake and Etta Sprain Sullivan.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Lt. Albert J. Larsen (Abie), husband Leonard Sprain (2009), son Thomas Sprain(2013), her niece Judy Phillips(2014).
Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 10,2022 at 11:00am followed by a meal. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 9:00am.
