Obituary for James Hagen
Jim served in the US Navy during Vietnam aboard the USS Lexington as the Captain's Aid. He had a successful career in sales in the Salon Industry before retiring and working as a shear sharpener for the clients he amassed from his work in sales. Jim spent his free time at his favorite local bars, where he enjoyed sharing a drink and swapping stories with his never-ending group of friends. He hosted Sunday dinners every week for his family and anyone who was around for the evening.
Drum corps was a huge part of Jim’s life; especially the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps of La Crosse. He began on the drums before aging out and serving his tour in the Navy. He then returned to the drum corps as a rifle instructor.
Jim had a gregarious personality and loved socializing with his friends.
Jim is survived by his three sons, Evan, Dylan, and Caleb; his brother, Jeff; his sister, Diane; his ex-wife, Sue; Evan’s fiancé, Amanda; his many friends; and other family members. They all will miss him dearly.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, March 18, from 11am to 5pm at the Roy L. Vingers American Legion Post 52 in La Crosse. Military honors will be rendered at 1pm by the American Legion Post 52 and the United States Navy Funeral Honor Guard.
