Obituary for Allie Rae Whitehead

Allie Rae Whitehead passed away November 6th, 2022, surrounded by her family, from a courageous battle with cancer. Allie was born June 7, 1949, to Luther and Peggy Blackburn. She married Derrick Whitehead Sr. on December 25, 1972. They resided in La Crosse where they raised their family.

Allie drove bus for the La Crosse Schools/Laid Law and then was employed by Golden Plump for many years. After retirement, being the fun social gal that she was, she decided to go back to work for Public Transit Services up until she was diagnosed with cancer.

Allie had many passions in her life, from spending time with her kids and grandkids, craft shows and flea markets with her husband, sewing clothes for anyone in need or want, vacationing with her family, going to theme parks and doing any and all roller coasters, playing BINGO with anyone, going to rummage sales to find treasures that she could buy for family and friends, and playing any kind of card game with whomever she could school and beat.

Allie is survived by her sons, Thomas(Kristi), Derrick Jr.(Tiffany), Al (Ashley) and Terry; Stepdaughter, Valerie; Sisters, Margaret, Honnie and Connie; numerous Grandkids and Great-Grandkids; additional "Kids", Jeffery and Mariah; many nieces and nephews, and In-Laws.

Allie was proceeded in death by her parents and her husband; sons, Michael and David; daughter, Kimmie; stepdaughter, Vanessa; and stepson, Willie.

Everyone knows that there is a woman in their life that knows no bounds of kindness, this is the part that made Allie so special.

A celebration of life will be held at the Town of Holland (Holmen) town hall Saturday, May 27th from 12:00 to 4:00. We ask that you come and celebrate Allie with family and friends. A private family burial will be at the Asbury Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Allie's name can be made to the charity of your choice or at https://foundation.gundersenhealth.org/donate-now. Selecting “Oncology” will support the Cancer Center.
