Obituary for Shirley (Wehrs) Rogge
She was born April 1, 1936, to Rudolph L. and Lillie (Hanson) Olson, the youngest of 6 children.
She was brought up in the Lutheran Faith. Most of her growing up years were spent in Midway where she attended grade school and graduated from Holmen High School in 1954. Shirley went on to La Crosse State College where she earned a 2 year degree in Rural Education.
In 1957 she married Ronald E. Wehrs at Holmen Lutheran Church. Together they raised 2 children, Ronald Bruce and Susan Kay. After briefly teaching school she became a stay at home mom and also began keeping books for the family business, Wehrs Electric. This she continued until retirement.
She and Ron enjoyed traveling and particularly loved cruising the Mississippi River and camping on sandbars with friends. Ron passed away in 1993.
In 2000 she married L. Allan “Bud†Rogge. They also enjoyed traveling. One special trip was cruising the rivers in Europe on a long boat.
Her family was very important to her. She spent many hours watching the grandchildren in their sports or music.
Survivors include her husband, Bud, of 23 years; son, Bruce (Judy) Wehrs; daughter, Sue Torris; grandchildren, Dustin (Danielle) Wehrs, Derek (Jessie) Wehrs, Tiffany (Chris) Dolan, and Brent Torris; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Charlie, and Augie Wehrs, Jaxon, Claire, and Gianna Wehrs, Ophelia, Vienna, and Atlas Dolan; several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly; Bud’s family, Mark (Holly) Rogge, Paul Rogge, and Sandra Rogge; step-grandchildren, Nichole (Chad) Jerome and Barrett Rogge; and 3 step-great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Brystol, and Boston Jerome; and sisters-in-law, Ruth Baker and Lynne Hanson,.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Ron; siblings, Dallas (Corrine) Olson, Mardelle (Vilas) Komperud, Geraldine (Odell) Tranberg, Winnifred (Vernon) Anderson, Phyllis (Robert) Leisgang; son-in-law, Michael Torris; step-son, Stephan Rogge; brothers-in-law, Merlin Baker and Lloyd Hanson; and several nieces and nephews.
Mom would say that she was a lucky lady---she had her faith in God, 2 wonderful husbands, great kids and grandkids, and nieces and nephews that treated her like the “Queen Beeâ€!
