Obituary for Richard Paul "Dick" Bastyr

He was born April 3rd, 1946 in Casper, Wyoming to Charles and Dorothy Bastyr (Breening).

He attended De Le Salle High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Brainerd High School in Brainerd, Minnesota. Later he attended Brainerd Junior College, followed by St. Mary's University in Winona, Minnesota.

On June 25th, 1975 he married Susan Erickson in Lake Park, Minnesota. He is survived by his wife Susan, son Derek Bastyr, daughter Denise Bastyr, and grandaughter Mia Kline.

Dick was a Construction Specification Writer and worked for many architectural firms around the country from Fargo, North Dakota, Monroe, Louisiana, Minneapolis, Minnesota, La Crosse, Wisconsin, amongst a few more. June of 1994 he was honored with the Construction Specifications Institutes Fellowship Award in San Francisco.

In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going for his first elk. He had an incredible sense of humor and loved animals and gardening.

He is preceded in death by is parents Charles and Dorothy Bastyr, and his brother, John Bastyr.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Fredrickson Funeral Home, Woodruff Chapel, 4239 Mormon Coulee Rd., La Crosse, WI. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
