Obituary for Evelyn Staggemeyer

She was born October 30, 1934 in Allamakee County, IA t o Truman and Leona (Bulman) Wenig.

Evelyn attended Bear Creek School in Quandahl for four years, then Waukon Grade School and Waukon High School where she graduated in 1953.

After graduating from high school she worked for two years at Mansfield Industries in Spring Grove, MN.

In 1955 Evelyn married Milton Staggemeyer. The remainder of her life she worked beside her husband Milton at the grocery store until she retired.

Evelyn enjoyed going to garage sales with her friends, going out for coffee and playing cards. She was also a great animal lover, cats being her favorite.

Evelyn is survived by her four children, Jean (Greg) Rea, Brad (Kristy) Staggemeyer, Julie (Neal) Luttchens, and Mark (Cathy) Staggemeyer; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Howard Staggemeyer; sister-in-law, Grace Staggemeyer; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters, Margaret Meyer, Nadine Fritz, Lorna Mae Meiners, and Donna Lou Fruechte, and their spousers; brother-in-law, Norbert Staggemeyer; and sister-in-law, Janice Staggemeyer.

A funeral service will be held Monday, August 7, 2023, 11:00 A.M., at Saint Luke's Church in Eitzen. Pastor Michael McCann will officiate. Burial will follow in the Saint Luke's North Cemetery. A visitation will be on Monday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
