Obituary for Keith R. Bernett

Keith R. Bernett, 90, of Bangor, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Sparta, Wisconsin on April 9, 1933 to Andrew and Mabel (Adler) Bernett. At an early age Keith had to help run the family farm after the passing of his father. He took great pride in his years on the farm and talked fondly of his mother’s strength and persevering during hard times. Keith graduated from high school in Sparta and was a Korean War Veteran. After his service in Korea he moved to Kenosha and was employed by AMC/Chrysler retiring in 1989. He was a hard worker and installed that quality in his children.

He was united in marriage to Patricia McGuire on March 24, 1963. Keith was liked by everyone who met him. He enjoyed sitting and visiting with “old farmers” over coffee and going to the Equity for livestock sales. One of the greatest loves of his life were his grandsons. He felt blessed to spend time with them and a few of his favorite past times was hunting and fishing (and going to the casino as they grew older). Keith was grateful to live as long as he did to see the births of his great granddaughters whom he loved dearly.

He was a faithful member of the Bangor Presbyterian Church for 32 years until his health took a toll on his body and wasn’t able to attend services as much as he would have liked.

He is survived by his son Rodney (Sharon) Bernett; daughter Robbyn (Dale) Coombs; grandchildren, Zachary (Jessica) Coombs; Alex Coombs (Summer Fink); great grandchildren, Avery and Taylor and his sister Gloria Cross of Odessa, FL along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by wife Patricia Bernett; his parents Andrew Bernett and Mabel Bernett; brothers Duane, Garth (infancy), brothers Gale and Russell; sisters Jeanne Cole, and Yvonne Travis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., September 8, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church of Bangor. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m., until the time of service at the church.
