Obituary for Wilma Louise Robertson

She was born July 30, 1943, in Genoa, Wis., to Anton "Nick" and Bessie (Blask) Michel. After graduation from high school, Wilma worked at various jobs including a Teacher's Aide at Emerson Elementary in La Crosse and later in life, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.

In 1965, Wilma met Warren Robertson and they later married on August 20, 1997, in Viroqua, Wis. They were blessed with one daughter, Hope.

In between employment at Emerson and Gundersen, Wilma took time off of work outside the home to raise her daughter. She then went back to school, attending Western Technical College where she received an Associate's Degree in Accounting. On August 27, 2004 Warren preceded Wilma in death. In 2005, Wilma retired from Gundersen Health System.

Wilma really loved dogs. She also was a proficient sewer. She liked researching family history, rummage saling, and scrapbooking. She was generous to a fault. Wilma's family was her whole world; she loved spending time with her grandkids and she was very close with her sister, Sondra.

Survivors include one daughter, Hope (Thomas) Di Iorio; grandchildren, Juliana, Jacob, and Jordyn; her little dog, Riley; her sister, Sondra Bailey; nephews, Marvin Bailey, Jr., Timothy (Bobbie) Bailey, and Eric Bailey; one niece, Teresa Cook; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her husband, Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ralph Michel; and her brother-in-law, Dick Bailey.

A Christian Memorial Service will be at 12 noon, Saturday, October 28, 2023, at St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church, Stoddard. Rev. Silas Schmitzer will officiate. Burial will follow in the Stoddard Village Cemetery. A visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.
