Obituary for Neil T. Horstman


Neil Thomas Horstman, 49, of the Bangor/Mindoro area passed away October 24th at his family home.

He was born on October 17, 1974 to Waldemar and Helen (Berendes) Horstman. He graduated from Melrose-Mindoro High School in 1993. Neil lived and worked on the family farm his entire life. He enjoyed riding 4-wheeler, fishing, hunting and picking and delivering sweet corn from the family farm. Neil took pride in his many nieces and nephews, showing his love and support for them through his thoughtful actions. He had a generous heart and loved to help family, friends and neighbors in any way he could. He was happiest when he was in their company.

Survivors include his mother, Helen Horstman; siblings: Steve (Janet) Horstman of Camp Douglas, WI, Mark (Suzanne) Horstman of Fountain City, WI, Diane (Jason) Larson of Houston, MN, Julie (Craig) Singleton of Mableton, GA, Jolene (Brian) Olson of Rochester, MN, and Heidi (Daniel) Obert of La Farge, WI; nieces and nephews: Elizabeth (AJ) Schlintz, Adam (Angie) Horstman, Ross (Genesis Ann) Horstman, Victoria (Michael) Foote, Eric (Janessa) Horstman, Katie (Lionel) Horstman-Arellano, Alyssa Horstman, Elizabeth Larson, Amanda Larson, Pierson Singleton, Jordan Singleton, Debreyanna Singleton, Brandon Olson, Ashley Olson, Zachary Olson, Adalaide Obert, Wilbur Obert; several great nieces and great nephews; and many special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Neil was preceded in death by his father, Waldemar Horstman, and his nephew, Jared Larson.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Bells Coulee Lutheran Church, rural Bangor/Mindoro. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m., until 6:00 p.m., Monday, at Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, Bangor Chapel, Hwy. 162 and Hattan St., Bangor.

A visitation will also be held from 10:00 a.m., until the time of service, Tuesday, at Bells Coulee Lutheran Church. 

Neil was privately laid to rest, in the presence of his family, following a graveside service in Burns Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
