Obituary for Evenell Mae "Evie" Furlano
Evie, as she was affectionately known, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was born on April 30, 1933, in the Town of Coon/Esofea, Wisconsin.
Evie is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Greg Furlano Sr., and their children: Karen Long (Jeff), Steve Furlano (Deb), Kay Furlano, Karla Berra (Terry), Greg Furlano Jr. (Coni), Gary Furlano (Lori), Karlene Englerth (Mark), and Kim Furlano (Jim Michels). She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, with more on the way. Evie is also survived by two sisters, Anna Pedretti and Arla Furlano.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Tilly Helgeson, as well as two brothers and five sisters.
Evie was known for her skills in the kitchen, where she excelled as a cook and baker. She was an avid Euchre player and enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, especially snuggling with the babies. Evie was also a devoted friend to many and had a knack for finding treasures at rummage sales.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Genoa. A luncheon will follow the service and be held in the cafeteria of St. Charles School. A visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of Mass, Saturday, at the church. Evie will be cremated and a private burial will be held at a later date.
In accordance with her wishes in lieu of flowers, donations may be given to St. Charles Church or the Genoa Harmony Fire Department in memory of Evie Furlano.
Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, Woodruff Chapel, located at 4239 Mormon Coulee Road, La Crosse, WI 54601, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Evie will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
