Obituary for Kenneth P. Huber


Kenneth P. “Ken” Huber, 87, of Bangor, passed away at Bridgepath Memory Care Assisted Living on February 21, 2024.

He was born in Sparta, Wis., on April 12, 1936, to Leonard and Catherine (Craig) Huber.

He graduated from Bangor High School in 1954. He served in the Army from 1954-1956.

He married Carol Knudtson on January 16, 1960.

Ken farmed in rural Bangor until 2021. In his early years he drove can milk truck in addition to farming. From 1984 to 2006, he drove semi-truck for Dutch Mill Trucking. Ken enjoyed traveling; he and Carol traveled to Hawaii and Alaska and family vacations to fish in Canada.

Ken was honored and found extreme pleasure on his trip to Washington, D.C., on the 20th Freedom Honor Flight with Barbara.

He enjoyed hunting. Ken would be in the woods each November for deer hunting; but also went to Wyoming with friends for mule deer and antelope and to Canada moose hunting. One of his last times fishing was at Lake Neshonoc with his granddaughter, Shauna and great-grandchildren, Riley and Kennedy. Ken was an avid John Deere collector from his 2-cylinder tractors to toys and Christmas ornaments.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carol; daughter, Barbara (Damian) Carter; granddaughter, Shauna (Daniel) Laufenberg; great-grandchildren, Riley and Kennedy Laufenberg; siblings, Clarice Waldenberger and Merlin (Carol) Huber; sisters-in-law, Lois Huber, Lillian Malzacher, Doris Miller, Joyce Falkowski, Mildred Clark, and Sherry (Rod) Pederson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Catherine Huber; in-laws, Lester and Cora Knudtson; brothers, Donovan Huber and Laverne Huber (infant); sister, Juanita Affeldt; brothers-in-law, Robert Affeldt and Clare Waldenberger; sisters-in-law, Ulamae Langrehr and Lucille Hesselberg.

A Christian Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 9, 2024, at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Bangor. Rev. Brock Groth will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Burns Cemetery.

A visitation will be from 5 pm until 7 pm Friday, March 8, 2024, at Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, Bangor Chapel, Hwy 162 and Hattan St., Bangor. A visitation will also be held from 10 am until the time of service, Saturday, at the church.
