Obituary for Robert "Bob" Gehrking
Bob was born in Bangor, Wis., on October 8,1936, to Blanche and George Gehrking. He graduated from Bangor High School in 1955 and married Delores “Dolly” Fitzl in 1961. They moved to La Crosse where they owned the Magic Coin Laundry for many years. Bob also was a truck driver, for Pennzoil and Bob Johnson Lubricants, until his retirement. After retirement, Bob and Dolly operated their own cleaning business. Bob was a talker and loved to converse with anybody and everybody about events of the day.
Bob is survived by his three children, William (Mary Jo) Gehrking of Pewaukee, Wis., Glenn (Karen) Gehrking of La Crosse, and Julie Steers of Holmen, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Seth (Leia) Gehrking, Katelyn (Michael) Coleman, Justin (Melissa) Gehrking, Tyler (Leah) Gehrking, Joshua (Shantelle) Gehrking, Jordan Gehrking, and Krystal and Nathaniel Steers; and nine great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by former daughter-in-law, Maria (Randy) Johnson; former son-in-law, Pat Steers; and life-long friend, David Burbach.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved wife Dolly in February of 2018.
Bob was a loyal husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, Bangor Chapel, Hwy 162 and Hattan St., Bangor. Burial will follow in Burns Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m., until the time of service, Tuesday, at the funeral home.
