Obituary for Merrick J. "Rick" Beron
He was born on September 20, 1948, to James and Charlene Beron in Sparta, WI. He was a graduate of Bangor High School and eventually enlisted in the Navy, and he was honorably discharged in 1972 after 4 years of service.
Rick was the maintenance manager for his family’s business, Beron CBRF; a Community Based Residential Facility that cared for male residents which also included many veterans. He operated the family farm with his dad and brother for many years. Rick was an avid outdoorsman, which included many trips to Colorado with his dad and his brothers. He also was a lifelong Denver Broncos fan. Rick enjoyed his vacations to Windward Passage in Fort Myers Beach, FL, where he was most often found poolside enjoying a Miller Lite. He was a bowling legend at Bangor Lanes. Rick had many perfect 300 games and often competed in state and national tournaments. Rick enjoyed car shows and fulfilled a lifelong dream of buying a 1972 Oldsmobile 442 W-30, a similar car he owned in his glory days. He also enjoyed playing golf and softball. Rick could often be found on his back deck listening to Bob Uecker and his beloved Brewers and enjoying a Miller Lite. He also enjoyed canning, being a master griller, gardener, and bird watcher. Rick was a member of the Bangor Lions Club where he served for multiple decades in addition to the American Legion Post 40 of Bangor and the VFW Post 8278, Bangor. In his retirement, he worked part-time for O’Reilly’s Auto Parts in Sparta and loved to mow the lawn where he lived. With all of Rick’s experiences in life, he became the family’s “Mr. Fix-It” and was happily busy with many phone calls for help.
Survivors include, his wife and partner of 20 years, Judy; daughter, Angela (Adrian) Risch, Judy’s children, Brandy (James), Kenya (Richie), and Robert; brothers, Tim (Kathy) Beron and Terry (Lisa) Beron; sister, Jennifer (James) Lockman; 11 grandchildren, Gretchen, Ingrid, Triston, Zach, Derek, Katie, Izzy, Tina, Tyann, Bella, and James; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Kevin and Nicole Ewing.
