Obituary for Sharon M. Zibrowski

Sharon was born to Winifred (Mikkelson) and Edmund Evenson on May 24, 1945. Sharon was baptized, confirmed, and married at St John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Barre Mills, Wisconsin.

Sharon married the love of her life on October 13, 1962; Henry Zibrowski, son of Edna (Rusert) and Arthur Zibrowski. Together they started their lives farming in Spring Grove, MN, where they welcomed their three children: Thomas, Kimberly and Jerome. In 1968, they moved to Granddad’s Bluff, La Crosse, to manage Ridgeview Stables. In 1973 they moved to Mindoro where they resided until 2021 when Sharon became a resident of RBI Caring Hearts in Bangor.

Sharon held many jobs over the years including: housewife, farm hand, cheese wrapper at Mindoro Co-operative Creamery, working with kids under the SENN program through Melrose-Mindoro School District, making and baking lefse at The Lefse Shop in Holmen, and finally a long standing career at Northern Engraving in West Salem. Through these positions, Sharon developed many long-lasting relationships until her stroke in April of 2016 when her speech was affected.

Sharon was an avid garage sale shopper and was always looking out for someone else when it came to finding a bargain or felt “someone could use this.”

She also had a love of collecting Beanie Babies and the McDonald ones too; and she spent a lot of time organizing and looking for ones to complete her collection.

Sharon and Henry spent so many summers on Marsh-Miller Lake in Bloomer with Sharon’s cousins, Joyce and Roger Heineck, that they decided to purchase a camper and pontoon. They spent a lot of the summer months fishing and visiting with family and friends who visited. Sharon became skipper of a 24’ pontoon boat and was to the amazement of the locals in Bloomer, that she could manage it on her own. Many would watch for them to come in and would help to tie up and get Henry off safely. She never fished nor did she have to take a fish off the line for Henry but enjoyed the great outdoors and watching the eagles. She would gladly give up the captain’s chair to anyone who wanted to drive.

Henry preceded Sharon in death on April 22, 2021.

Sharon’s passion for family was evident in all her family tree books and other local community books. She had a love of reading all the local newspapers and sharing and saving clippings of articles.

She was very proud of her children and loved her grand and great-grandchildren; Sharon was blessed to have her middle name be carried on to several of her grand and great granddaughters. The past few years, it has been hard to get her to smile; but, whenever she had visits with extended family, she would share her infectious smile and she enjoyed the care providers bringing in their bunnies for the residents to hold. If another resident was holding her great-grandkids or the bunny, they may have gotten a glimpse of her “stink eye” look.

Sharon is survived by her children, two sons, Thomas (Kay) of La Crosse, WI and Jerome (Diane) of Mindoro, WI; a daughter, Kimberly (Aaron) Byom of Melrose, WI; seven grandchildren, Ryan Zibrowski of Pittsburgh, PA, Rachel Zibrowski (Brady Turk) of Bangor, WI, Shawn (Jessica) Byom of Melrose, WI, Lisa Mae (Josh) Triplett of Peyton, CO, Candyce (Chris) Deck of Spring Grove, MN, Nicole (Mike) Corridori of Calabasas, CA, and Dayna Mae (Andy) Schutz of Marshfield, WI; seven great-grandchildren, Hailey, Amelia and Gracie Mae Byom, Kya and Kaylee Deck, Adaline Mae Schutz, and Marco Corridori; one brother, Darrel (Sharon) Evenson; brothers-in-law, Leland (Carol) and Richard (Maureen); sister-in-law, Delores Yanzer; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Henry, Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law; brothers-in-law, Norman, Ronald, Wilfred, Harold and wife Phyllis, and Leslie and wife Janet; sisters-in-law, Mae and husband, Gene Odette and Rose Zibrowski; brother-in-law, Gene Yanzer; and great-granddaughter Angela Rose Byom.

The family would like to recognize all the caregivers that cared and shared love with Sharon during her time at RBI Caring Hearts. Also, to the St. Croix Hospice team for their care and comfort to her.

A Christian Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, April 12, 2024, at First Ev. Lutheran Church, 400 West Ave., S., La Crosse. Rev. Richard Pamperin will officiate. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow in the church basement.

Graveside services and burial will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, in Farmington Cemetery, W4295 Cty. Rd. D, Mindoro. All are welcome to attend.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m., until the time of service, Friday, at the church.
