Obituary for Gloria J. Thompson
She was born on August 22, 1941, to Arthur and Alpha (Peterson) Anderson of Glenwood City. Gloria was the youngest of 10 children.
She worked at the West Salem High School for 12 years; but, her love was for her family. Gloria met Arnie Thompson through friends while working in Appleton. They were married on March 7, 1964, in Glenwood City. Arnie, and Gloria, more commonly known as Toots and Red, had three sons, Ken, Lee, and Brian. While they loved camping, fishing, and going out for Friday night fish, they most enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Arnie of West Salem; their children, Ken (Diane) Thompson of Bangor, Lee (Lesley) Thompson of Galesville, and Brian (Kristi) Thompson of Holmen; eight grandchildren, Samantha (Jacob) Olson, Andrew (Courtney) Thompson, Aaron (Rachael) Thompson, Austin (Katie) Thompson, Chris (Angeline) Thompson, Ben Thompson, Will Thompson, and Lorissa Thompson; and five great-grandchildren, Noah, Kenna, Rosalee, Naomi, and Liam.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, June 3, 2024, at Fredrickson Funeral Home, Jostad Chapel, 121 N. Youlon St., West Salem. Pastor Jean Schmidt will officiate. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m., until the time of service, Monday, at the funeral home.
