Obituary for Arlis M. Kirkeeng

She was born on February 25, 1938, in Winona, Minnesota to Walter and Mabel (Pieper) Wachholz. She grew up in Lewiston, Minnesota, and graduated from Lewiston High School. She married Sigurd Kirkeeng on March 15, 1969, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rochester, Minnesota. Together they shared nearly 42 years of marriage before Sigurd’s passing on January 9, 2011.

Arlis loved dancing and was known to frequently attend the Concordia Dance Hall Ballroom in La Crosse, Wisconsin. While living at the Morrow Home, she enjoyed spending her days coloring. Arlis was a big animal lover, especially dogs and cats. She had a special place in her heart for her beloved canine companion, Petunia. She also enjoyed going on trips with Sigurd, including a trip and a ferry boat ride in Door County, Wisconsin, and a trip to Branson, Missouri.

Arlis is survived by her brothers, Willard Wachholz of Lewiston, MN, Charles Wachholz of Kasson, MN, and Harlan Wachholz of New Hope, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Sigurd; sister, Luella Hoppe; and sisters-in-law, Lorraine Wachholz, Marlene Wachholz, and Sharon Wachholz.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Fredrickson Funeral Home, Bangor Chapel, Hwy 162 and Hattan Street, Bangor WI, 54614. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Following the service, there will be a time of food and fellowship. Burial will follow fellowship at the Fish Creek Ridge Lutheran Cemetery in Rockland.

In lieu of flowers, memorials designated to the Morrow Home in Sparta in memory of Arlis are preferred.
