Obituary for Roy Havlik

It is with great sadness that I share the passing of Roy Howard Havlik, 54, of Dresbach, MN. He passed on December 11, 2024 after a very long struggle with health issues.

Roy was born in Wisconsin on February 20, 1970. He graduated from Logan High School and continued on to receive a Microcomputer Specialist degree from WWTC.

Roy and I were married in October of 1994 and recently celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary Roy worked as a data specialist for NMT for 22 years. In 2021 he purchased the digital preservation portion of the business and has run his company Northern Digital Preservation Specialist since that time. He enjoyed many things over the years and had a true love of camping and supporting state parks. So many wonderful memories were made with friends and family over the years. Towards the end he even went “hunting” with his buddy Terry. We were all amazed to see him in camo!

Roy is survived by myself Linda, beloved daughter Clara, Godson Josh, and Matthew Henry who was like a son to him. Sister Joan (Mike) Gilles, brother Paul (Cheryl) Havlik, best friend Sam and many nieces and nephews who will miss the little something extra that Uncle Roy brought to every conversation. He made such an amazing impact on so many lives. Roy loved his mother in-law and often indicated he would have married her had she been available. My sister Cheryl has been his biggest asset over the last year and he appreciated her so much. Roxy Rose was his warm stuffed animal and I have been given strict orders to rub his baby Roxy’s belly each day, clean the sleepers from her eyes and scrunch her ears.

Roy is preceded in death by his father John, Mother Mary, his favorite aunt Carol and far too many others to mention. I hope they were all there to welcome him with open arms.

Roy did not want a “Celebration of Life”, he wanted an “It’s Finally Over” gathering to celebrate our memories and plant a tree in his honor. In the spring/summer of 2025 we will have a celebration of Roy and details will be shared as we get closer to that time.

Rest Roy, no more doctor appointments, no more pushing for answers, no more procedures, no more disappointments. We will miss you more than you will ever know and will forever wish for just one more day.
